The button accordion is a type of accordion, the main difference between it and a piano accordion is that the melody side of the accordion consist of buttons rather than piano style keys.As far as we know the first button accordion is credited to Franz Walther in 1850. At present a wide variation in keyboard systems, tuning, action and construction of these instruments exists. Basically two main examples exist, they are the chromatic button accordion and the diatonic button accordion. The diatonic button accordion generally has two or three rows of buttons, each row is tuned to a certain key. The most common key is b/c tuning.The button accordion is a very common Instrument and can be seen in music genres such as Irish, British, Cajun, Country and Norteño music. The diatonic accordions are bisonoric, this simply means that that each button produces two different notes, these notes are produced by either by pushing or pulling the bellows. The Box consists of four main components,the reeds, bellows, buttons or keys, and the switches. The accordion has reeds on both the treble and bass sides,The buttons allow air into the reeds to make a sound.The bellows are the life of the instrument, as they expand and contract they draw air into the reeds, and are usually made out of paper.
